Poor turnout on Wednesday last either the result of the time change or the drop of rain or the threat of the storm but for the dedicated group that showed up the evening was just right, no wind, sunshine and freshly cut greens what more could be asked for except to win and Mary Donovan and Frank Riordan did just that. Mary was telling Frank all about her recent trip to Madrid and fired him up to such an extent that he booked an all expenses trip for Siobhan and himself to the sun and put his winning down as a deposit.
Saturday back to normal with a good attendance which saw Mick Lehane taking the nett with Margaret Bowen and Rick O’Mahony helping PJ take the gross.
Gentleman John got an excellent partner on Sunday Morning in Bart Millard , but the late night in Kinsale on Saturday was too much for him and the excitement of family lunch in the Brook Inn on Sunday had his mind elsewhere John Ahern and Valerie O’Leary had a marvellous game taking the nett with 50 points beating PJ and Margaret Bowen on the back nine. This was down to John Ahern birdying the thirteenth and Valerie doing the same with 14, 15 & 16 and Johns recovery on the 18 chipping in for a three. Frank Riordan again with Mary O’Donovan had to settle for 2nd Nett.
Sunday evening the pairing of Mick Healy and Miriam Casey ran away with the nett with Mick up to his usual birdying from all directions and Miriam making solid threes making full use of the handicap to nett at 40 while Billy Fitton and Rick O’Mahony ganged up on PJ to take the gross. Rumour has it that JP is considering taking up knitting for the Winter but hasn’t run it past the boss yet.
