Wednesday saw Pat Moore anchoring Margaret Bowen taking the nett with 39 beating John Ahern and Michael Healy on the back nine who had to settle for second nett and coming in with 6 gross with Noel McCarthy to take the gross. The drop of rain is starting to green up the fairways and put a bit of life into the trees and shrubs around the course. Saturday the two Johns, John Ahern and John Dineen took the nett with 50 points leaving Noel McCarthy and George Bolton to collect the gross with 4 under.
Sunday morning all three O’Leary’s featured in the winners enclosure Darren just back from exotic Thailand took 2nd nett with Pat Moore bringing in a very respectable 8 under to nett at 39.5 while Mick who was paired with Mary O’Donovan won the overall nett with 36 and Val took the gross with 9 under after PJ walked away with a 5 on No 2 after missing a 3ft putt for a 2 which goes to show that it happens to the best of us. Sunday evening Gentleman John Curtin and J P Murphy won the nett with 40.5 while Val O’Leary and John Dineen took the gross on the back nine from Pat Conway and Pat Moore with 4 under.
Monday morning Mary O’Donovan was in fine fettle pitching, putting and chipping so well that she was considering putting her name forward for Club Coach, having birdied the 11th, 15th and making sure that she got all of her shots to take the nett with Noel McCarthy on 51 points while PJ Curtin took the gross with John Dineen scoring 7 under.
Monday evening Bank Holiday Fourball saw Val O’Leary playing magnificently taking the nett with Pat Moore scoring 8 under to nett at 39 while husband Mick won the gross partnering Sheila O’Leary with 6 under.
Rocklodge are making the trip to Lakewood on Monday next in the return leg of the semi final of the Summer Leagues. Lakewood have a big mountain to climb to make up 38 shots but never say die anything is possible.
