Wednesday the Club travelled to Inniscarra for the annual visit and while the 18 hole course was very challenging the 19th was definitely worth travelling for. As usual the Inniscarra Ladies hosted a magnificent spread, sandwiches , all types of delicious goodies and good strong tea/coffee to wash them down.
One of the spare courses was in play this weekend as John Ahern rested the championship course for the Captains Prize which started on Thursday.
The Curtin boys were back in the winners enclosure this week with PJ taking the nett on Saturday with Rick O’Mahony scoring 9 under to nett at 40 while Gentleman John took the gross with Mick Lehane bringing home a respectable 3 under.
Sunday morning Paddy Dennehy and fellow ESB Retiree Noel Mac along with the Greenkeeper John Ahern took the nett with a decent 5 under in a threeball competition of 2 scores to count while the professional partnering of Alan Kelly, John Dineen and Mary Donovan won gross with 5 under.
Rumour has it that JP Murphy was very put out having failed to be drawn for the monthly hole in one competition with two 50/50 chances of having his name drawn out and falling short on both occasions. Sunday evening saw Pat Moore and Catherine O’Keeffe taking second nett with 48 points beaten by Frank Riordan and John Dineen on the back nine while Rick O’Mahony took the Gross with Pat O’Keeffe, God loves a trier and JP is definitely a trier with another hole in one on Sunday night putting him into the July draw.
