The Sun came out this Morning for the County Board Scramble Competition which was held in Lakewood. 35 out of 36 teams turned up to play including 4 teams representing the host club. The Scoring was very competitive with Collins taking the overall nett at 63 while a Magnificent 32 under took the Gross.Bishopstown had 3 teams in the winners enclosure and Brinny were also there.
Great Credit to the organisers and in particular to John and Michael who manned the desk and markedthe cards. Frank and his team were proud to showcase the course which was in truly Magnificent condition, the fairways, the greens, the while course was beautifully laid out which adds to the enjoyment and the 32 under proved that this course can be played. The Lakewood teams performed extremely well with 2 at 18 under and 2 teams with 23 under
. Gentleman John , Pat Moore and John Dineen led the host team with 23 under netting at 67 but were not good enough on the day. All the teams taking part were winnrs as the playing was hard but doable and with the Sun shining what more could you want. Catherine and her team were busy with the teas and coffees and for those of us who were in the right place at the right time we had some of Pat Conway’ Apple and Rhurbarb Tarts .
Great day, great Scoring and good craic.
Sunday morning P J Curtin and Valerie O’Leary did the business with 9 under to nett at 53 points with PJ scoring 6 to put him in the top 5 in Lakewood while Ted Canty and Paddy Dennehy took the gross with 5 under, losing three birdies on their last 3 holes out of 8 with 3 bogies but did enough to win on the back three from Betty White and Pat Moore.
