With Gentleman John on sabbatical Mick Healy is stepping up to the mark featuring for the nett on Wednesday with Mary O’Donovan with 50 points and took second nett on Saturday with Pat Moore with a score of 51 points. Noel Mac is also in great form winning the gross on Wednesday with Mick Lehane and featuring for the nett on Saturday with Ted Canty with 53 points, Ted putting the 2 shots that he got back to optimum use. Rumour has it that Noel Mac was demonstrating to PJ Curtin his playing skills as he was slightly miffed for not getting an invite from PJ to join his team for the upcoming County Board Scramble. Saying that both were partnered on Sunday morning but the chemistry was missing. Girl Power was back on Saturday with the deadly combination of the Super-Valu twosome, Val O’Leary and Pat Conway, back together for the first time since the fourball match-play to take the gross on the back nine with a comfortable 5 under.
John Ahern was back on Sunday Morning for the nett with Dan Shine at 6 under to nett at 38 while Val O’Leary once again featured for second nett with Margaret Bowen netting at 40. Betty White who is playing some great pitch and putt and partnered by Pat Moore were gross winners with 47.
Frank Riordan was complaining about talking to the ball on its approach to the hole the as it was off putting, now saying that he was seen whispering to his own ball prior to his birdie on the 13th. Billy Fitton made an early comeback on Saturday afternoon putting the new power pack through its paces and prepping for the Easter weekend. Sunday afternoon John Dineen and Pat O’Keeffe took the nett with a respectable 42 while Pat Twomey making his first appearance for 2018 after his knee operation in 2017 showed true form to take the gross with the ever consistent Gretchen Ahern with 5 under. A reliable source said that President Dave Linehan was eying up the course getting ready for his forthcoming return.
Friday night was a brilliant night in the Members Bar with Jack O’Rourke and his band treading the light fantastic to a packed house. Peter DeForbha was comfortable in the role of Master of Ceremonies and rumour has it that he is considering a new career in Event Management.
