Saturday saw the Elder Curtin taking the Nett with John Sullivan and Frank Riordan by a fraction of a shot from Pat Conway, Paddy Dennehy and Rick O’Mahony but it all worked out well as they had the best gross on the day. P J was back on Sunday for the double taking Gross in the morning with Sheila O’Leary and Nett in the afternoon with Billy Fitton while Rick O’Mahony made sure that Eileen Murphy got a mention in the Winners List taking the gross with a comfortable 6 under. Ted Canty was back in the enclosure on Sunday morning with Val O’Leary and both complimented each other dovetailing the holes with consistent play to make sure of the Nett. Saturday one could be forgiven for thinking that the players were on a health farm with all of the wet gear and the unexpected heatwave in the afternoon causing people to sweat bricks. Rumour has it that John Ahern is starting to wind down and take it easy with a welcome break in Gran Canaria. The CCTV will be closely monitored to catch Frank cutting the greens and just in case he does a midnight shift the infra red will pick him up.
Billy Fitton has a busy schedule planned and I heard that he is taking computer classes to cope with the digital uploading of results.
