The last weekend of the Vouchers saw a bunch of toughened stalwarts giving it one more shot to bring home the Christmas Dinner. Like the Cavemen the hunters were competitively playing to a higher standard due to the cuts in handicaps forcing players to up their games and play to the lower handicaps and like the Cavemen the reward was a kill which provided the essentials for a rewarding meal but in this case it was for vouchers which can purchase a choice of Menu in any of the Super-Valu outlets. The course was playing very hard due to the soft conditions and the bitter cold wind wasn’t helping the pitching or the putting but John Ahern and John Curtin were tough enough to take the Nett while the Gents Captain, Frank Riordan ably assisted by Pat Moore were the winners in the Gross.
Next weekend is the last of the Christmas Competitions with the Christmas Fayre on Wednesday and the Bottle Weekend starting at 2.30 Sat. Everyone is back to full Handicaps for this competition and its all to play for.
The Christmas Programme is posted on the Clubhouse Noticeboard and also on the Web page , Billy has a full schedule planned.
