Betty White back from her trip to Mexico was in the Winners enclosure with Bart Millard for the Nett with a replay of the recent Peter Healy Competition with back to back scoring turning in an impressive 12 up to bag them both a Voucher on week 2 of the Christmas Competition. The bad news is that both are now cut but with the performance that both put in this shouldn’t create a problem. P J Curtin is showing good form and was back with Margaret Bowen for the Gross with 8 under, Margaret’s hole in one was the decider as there were a number of 7 unders. For the rest of us the weather held out and the conversation was enlightening especially the conversation between Frank and PJ on the practical use of pink tees due to the high visibility factor in the high grass or Catherine Serenading Billy Fitton on the 17th tee box raising the level of his game but alas too little too late after the damage on the 14th. Mary O’Donovan back from her recent holiday had us all enthralled with her adventures on the back of a moped and Pat Conway entering the hall of season travellers with her solo trip to Australia and back.
Applications open for membership and new members are most welcome, if you want a serious sport this may not suit you but if you want a bit of fun and craic well Lakewood Pitch and Putt is the ideal venue. The course is in great condition thanks to the ground staff, Pat Twomey & John Ahern and the voluntary input from the other two John’s, John Curtin and John Dineen. Best wishes to the incoming committee for 2018. Club President Dave Linehan is recovering nicely and the new knee is coming along well, looking forward to seeing his familiar silhouette back on the course.
It’s back to stroke for the coming weekend, week three of the competition.
