Lakewood Pitch & Putt Results for w/e 2/4/17
The dry weather brought the Members out to play over the weekend and it was a pleasant treat to see the full championship course in play. The course is magnificent and the greens are in full recovery after the recent hollowthining. Some familiar names in the winners enclosure John Dineen and Paddy Dennehy leading the pack, John is in great demand this weather so much so that both John Ahern partnered him for the gross on Sunday morning while Gretchen Ahern took the tour for the Nett on Sunday afternoon. Paddy and John won the Nett on Wednesday while Frank Riordan and Mick Lehane were happy with the gross. Saturday afternoon Paddy showed Billy Fitton the way around for the Nett while the Curtin Boys were also in the ring, P J for gross with Valerie O’Leary while Mary O’Donovan was very pleased with Curtin Senior’s superb performance. Val’s brilliant chip on the sixth sealed the gross for PJ to keep his unbroken record in place.Mary O’Donovan brings the best out of Noel McCarthy which was evidenced on Sunday morning when they took the Nett from John Ahern and John Dineen, who having partnered each other in the Leagues were comfortable with each other to take the gross leaving Frank and Valerie to settle for second Nett. On Sunday afternoon Eileen Murphy was very fortunate to partner Darragh O’Herlihy on his fourball debut as a Lakewood Member and went home very happy with the Gross Prize.
Fourball on Wednesday next at 3.00pm but from Sunday the time is changing to 6.30 for the Wed and Sunday fourballs.
Special fourball on Good Friday at 3pm. Committee Meeting Thursday at 8.00 pm
