The Gents and Ladies Captains hosted a Buffet on Saturday last to mark the start of the New Year. A large turnout made short work of the large display of food and drink that was laid on, plenty of tea, sandwiches, finger food and of course the delicious arrangement of cakes. JP was seen working his way through a large slice of Strawberry Gateau while Billy Fitton was making short work of the beef sandwiches. Afterwards Pat Twomey organised a fun fourball with the removal of one hole after play. This worked against Paddy Dennehy and Kevin Crowley who had a birdie on the 4th which was the hole taken out which left them on a nett of 37 and were beaten by Pat O’Keeffe and Alan Kenneally who scored a 36 nett with a par on the 4th. Both had 2 under on the back nine but Paddy and Kevin had the higher handicap. PJ Curtin and Eileen Murphy took the gross with PJ shooting a magnificent 8 under. Sunday saw a smaller crowd but Tim Linehan was in the winners enclosure for both nett and gross, He took the nett with Deirdre O’sullivan with a score of 5 under and nett 38. Tim and Mick with 9 under were  the gross winners, PJ Curtin and Kevin Crowley took second nett with 40 while Colm Healy and John Dineen were there for second gross with 3 under. Normal fourballs next weekend weather dependent as the course is closed to allow it to dry out after the severe rain that fell over the past few days.
