Wednesday saw the Curtin Boys in Competition for the Nett but PJ and Mick Lehane pipped John and Josie Twomey on the back 9 while Billy Fitton and John Dineen took the gross.
Sunday morning there was a large turnout which saw John Ahern and Mick Lehane take the Nett with 11 up beating Pat Moore and Dan Shine on the back 9 but the Council duo took the gross from Pat Curtin and Noel McCarthy while Girl Power Josie Twomey and Mary O’Donovan had a magnificent 9 up for 2nd Nett. Sunday evening an enjoyable 3 ball scramble saw John Curtin, Frank Riordan and John Dineen taking the Nett with 33.3 while Gretchen Ahern, Pat Moore and Mary O’Donovan had the gross with 10 under while Pat Conway, PJ Curtin and Paddy Dennehy settled for 2nd Nett.
Lakewood suffered a huge loss this week with the passing of Denis (Dinty) Lordan. Denis held the position of Vice President of Lakewood Sport and Social and was one of the founder members of the club. Over the years he made a big impact on new and potential members with his easy carefree manner, his open honesty and his ability to make people comfortable and welcome. His death over the weekend will create a big void in the Club as he will be sadly missed by all who knew him, go n-eiri an bothar leat Denis go bheicifid me aris, Rest in Peace.
